Welcome to my homepage.

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Earth Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After having concluded a degree in Physics Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal, I decided to apply my knowledge of Physics to the study of the Earth. Currently I work in the field of Geophysics, with a special focus in Seismology. My present research concerns the physics of earthquake source (the mechanical process of earthquake nucleation, development and arrest). In the past I have also worked on volcano seismology.
