Aaron Martin - Consulting Services
I live and work in the Goleta area and am available for consulting work in the
Goleta/Santa Barbara area (or anyplace that the work can be done remotely).
I am interested mainly in work that can
be done outside of normal office hours, but can occasionally get
away during the day.
My rates are somewhat flexible depending on the task I take on and range from $30 to $60 per hour.

My primary strengths are:
- UNIX systems administration:
- Systems programming (using csh, sh, perl, awk etc...).
- Automating processes.
- General programming projects.
- Security tuning.
- Years of experience (current job and previous jobs) have given me a great set of troubleshooting skills with work well with system admin tasks as well as programming tasks.
- Website creation and administration:
- Am quite familiar with Apache server:
- Configuration of virtual hosts.
- Configuration of secure (https) sites using modssl.
- Configuration of other modules in the Apache server.
- Have used automated tools (Dreamweaver, Fireworks) as well as writing raw html
code for creating web pages.
- Dynamic web programming using PHP.
- Database interfacing using mySQL.
- General Programming Skills
- Programmed extensively in C and C++.
- Am very familiar with sequential as well as object oriented programming models.
- My formal training along with extensive work on different platforms have given
me extensive experience with computer architecture and how the different components
of a computer system affect each other.
- I have enough programming experience such that,
as long as I have good reference material,
I am not daunted by having to learn a new programming language or API.
- Computer training:
- I have extensive experience from both my university position and other consulting projects in training people.
- I am very patient and have extensive experience in helping people learn to use their computers.
- My communication skills cover a broad range.
I am able to use "plain english" as well as technical jargon, so I can provide quite a
range of information based on the requirements of the audience.
- Volleyball Coaching:
- I have a variety of coaching experience including:
- Observing a variety of coaching styles while taking formal classes.
- Informal coaching of many new players to the game over the past ten years.
- Practical experience coaching youth volleyball for the United States Youth Volleyball League
- Have ten years of experience in playing and coaching the game.
- Have played in local tournaments.
- Am familiar with different playing surfaces: (sand, grass and indoor).
- Coaching skills tend more towards the technical playing skills as opposed
to strategies of higher level play.
